Bishops are talking and Catholics are weighing in all over the world.
The topic? Divorce
With the reality that 25% of Catholics in the US are divorcing, does the church want to lose all of them? Will they be forced into taking a more flexible stand or will people simply give up on religion?
Pope Francis is a perfect person to lead the way in this debate and he says 2015 should be dedicated to the year of the family. While some say it is impossible to back away from current doctrine…we know nothing is impossible. As the old ones die off, more reasonable flexible cardinals and bishops will step up to bat. It will be interesting to see how they swing and where the ball lands.
